Gal Gadot was right: We Follow The Odds, We Crash Our Course.
We need to live despite probabilities: worthy games are the ones that defy the odds.
Hi there,
Do you know those times when you get to relax a bit, grab your favorite snack, and start watching.. well trying to watch something nice to pass along?
That was me last weekend.
Fortunately enough, my eyes got their eyes on the prize: a recent movie called “Heart Of Stone”.
If you tell me, it´s a fun overall bundle of action, charisma, and a little bit of drama…
But we aren´t here to discuss movies.. at least not this time.
Let me tell you a story of how it took me around 1 hour and 52 minutes to find out my biggest takeaway from the movie…
And I better let Gal Gadot say this one award-winning phrase: “If We Only Follow The Odds, We´ll Never Do Anything In Spite Of The Odds”.
That phrase hit me.
It was the spark that immediately pushed me out of the couch, made me open my laptop, and frenetically search for a piece of blank online canvas to write the exact words you are reading right now.
That´s right. My muse had revealed itself.
If I could bet on this one, you might have caught a glimpse of inspiration too. It´s such a beautiful phrase, with a deeper meaning inside.
You can think of it for many scenarios:
Your quite entangled love life…
That new ladder you are willing to climb at your job…
The project you´ve tried to put all together…
The time you spend every day trying to figure out the course you want your life to take…
We like numbers.
We like probabilities.
We are so desperate for a chance of assurance that we take for granted any outcome it might come with. The only thing we hate: is the odds.
Funny enough, we define the odds based on “certain” measures, even if we know they don´t have the final word. We do.
Odds represent the gap for a leap of faith many of us are trying to deal with.
Odds are against the hesitant voice in your head that tells you to act and that fights every day so that your dreams and aspirations don´t go extinct.
If we only focus on the gap to jump, we´ll never make it to the other side.
We´ll keep struggling or worst case scenario: we could get stuck on a tiny border, never able to change our minds about it.
Defining the odds is our must.
Listening to that voice that pushes us to jump is our oath.
If you want something extraordinary out of life, you´ll always make the right moves to make it happen. Odds are there to help you mold your vision.
They are not the chain that keeps you drained and glued to an imaginary wall.
The decision is yours, friend.
Be better than the probabilities you tell yourself.
⚔️ What I´ve worked on this week
Here is a glimpse of the work I did during the week, and also the links to my socials if you´d like to immerse more in the content I create on a daily basis.
Only valuable stuff, that´s my oath.

💭 The Lonely Reflection
Uproot lies, sow truths.
Let all that flow.
Let what you did not consider beautiful come to life.
Embrace its depths, let its currents guide you,
but don't lose your boat while you sail far.

I have been watching a lot of football this year, and one phrase I have come to hate is "according to the analytics..." This drives me crazy, as just as you imply, you must go against the odds to find greatness. Last week, I watched a team go for it on fourth and short on deep in their own end of the field, and the announcers were gobsmacked. But it made sense in a strange way. If the chance of making that play is one in a million, you will never know if you are the "one" unless you run it.
