Hi fam! Today´s life brew is all about reconciling ourselves with the reality we want to live in. Hope you enjoy!
First and foremost: Happy New Year. We have a new starting point, but it is not just a beginning, is the awakening of the process we want to craft. This year will be full of surprises and is up to us to visualize how we want to unwrap them.
See, it´s been a while since we´ve revolutionized the way we live. We live in an era with more comfort, with more diversions, bigger distractions, quick satisfaction, and a strong necessity for approval with just a few clicks.
There´s this tendency towards “winning” life without genuinely compromising it. What I mean by this is that we like the best offers life makes us: good relationships, excellent health, stable jobs, successful crafting of dreams, and of course, a legacy we are proud of.
But we don´t want to take the responsibility it conceals. It´s truly against the odds of our survival to face all the obstacles for us to achieve all these big milestones, isn´t it?
We want to achieve the benefits of a commitment for a “full life” without truly making any commitment at all, which is sad news for everybody. We live an illusion, dreaming of a life we are supposedly crafting while we stay observing the life we have right now.
In other words, today´s meaning is vaguely found, and the loss of oneself leading to the destruction of others is a reality. We no longer seek for constructing a meaning, a vital purpose, we instead prefer just asking what it could look like, never even approaching an actionable system to craft it.
Immanuel Kant, an Enlightenment thinker and philosopher, made a strong realization about our way of living, and how it should be done: he appealed to our consciousness, and stated that it should be respect internally and externally.
And this is beautiful: Kant tells us that for us to live fully, we need to know and live with ourselves fully. This approach is also known as the Formula of Humanity; and it explains the importance of self-discovery and self-growth, leading to the construction of a better and functional society.
The Formula of Humanity not only shows us the logical approach for truly finding virtue in each component of society and in it as a whole; it also unveils the magic of virtue, a forgotten truth to humans.
It´s more than just self-respect or self-actualization, what we can construct with this thinking is far more profound, and it can be called shared humanity. Shared-Humanity is self-love, self-respect, self-vision, self-reconciling; all acting as the components for shared thinking growth.
And for this to happen, we need to treat our consciousness as an end, rather as a means towards something. We can´t simply lie, harm, abuse, criticize, or take someone´s consciousness, because by doing so, we are treating their consciousness as a means towards our own benefit, and the shared humanity thinking is broken all over.
Yeah, I know this thinking might sound as a fairy tale, but it´s what we mostly hear when we look for developing a better life, not only each year, but in fact, every time. Treat others as you would like them to treat you is the core of treating consciousness as an end, making a purposeful use of it.
There´s this saying also: if we want to change the world, we need to first change ourselves. This is also a derivative form the Formula of Humanity!
So, what does all this new shift in thinking has to do with living and not appearing to live? Well, the problem with appearing alive and actually living is the lack of meaning. And meaning is a rare and hard thing to find these days.
That´s exactly where shared humanity makes its entrance: by using our consciousness as the ultimate tool for growth, we can construct meaning, rather than just trying to find it.
With this new concept, we should be able to reprioritize many things in our life, and hopefully make a change that lasts, not only for ourselves, but for others as well.
We´ll be able to live reality, not merely an appearance of it.
What do you think? Share me your thoughts, I´ll be glad to hear them out fam.
