Optimizing an Unmeaningful Living
A.I. has all of us clinging from our hope for better. Thoughts and reflections on our unique source of value: human connection.
With the rise of Artificial Intelligence systems and repetitive mechanisms are more replaceable than ever. Even knowledge and its practical applications are also being endangered.
And it´s understandable why are we fearing this new era so much: fear of accepting our possible shadow existence.
Funny enough, we don´t have anyone to blame but ourselves. We constructed a path for new technological advancements, and with our everyday interactions in this intertwined ecosystem, we have reached a reasonable level of vulnerability.
In the past century or so, we have focused all of our efforts on creating better developments, more commodities, functional strategies, uncomplicated growth scales, and so on.
This has led us to fewer human connections each time. It has taught us lessons such as: be number one, aim for the best, promise and plan, look out for numbers, and not forget to pay for more attention to retention!
When hearing an episode of ON PURPOSE with Jay Shetty, Humble the Poet turn around many points of view I had towards human connection and the risk of dehumanization we are dealing with not only with advancements in A.I. but also with the current state of human behavior.
He nailed the fear I feel every time a new research/product/idea/debate pops out relating to the development of modern intelligent software:
If AI is having so much presence … and will outrun the world… the sole thing that can save us… is having a soul… which can’t be taught… but can be reached.
Most of us are so worried about imminent replications, about future dominance, predictable algorithms, syncing bio-intelligence, and other stuff, that we forget we are already experiencing most of these things.
We can know we are, or we can don´t care at all. The point here is, when the time comes to face these facts, the only thing left will be to carry on and defend our most precious possession: our human condition.
Our unexplainable soul connection capacity is (I believe) the only differentiator between our creations and us. We can´t replicate this, at least not for now, and we should be aiming to improve this ability a little bit more in our lives.
How we interact with other people, how we show we care about those interactions, how we lead, why we create, the intention behind our actions, the image we show to people, all of these tiny examples can have a greater impact and unique difference in our optimized society.
We can have optimized and boosted leaders, products, designs, methods, analysis, etc. But if there´s real human connection and purpose behind those things, it will be noticeable, and it for sure will be more valuable in the long run.
Humans want humans. As simple as that. And when we get to a point where our creations can be “humans”, then, until that point, we can talk about a different panorama.
So, be a human. And spread your worth all along.
⤴️ The Weekly Update
📚 Gallagher´s theory: The world is the outcome of what you pay attention to. It’s simple. So simple it can be easy to forget. Why is it hard to apply? Because we want “perfect” in our world, given the fact that such a thing is far from perfect. We train our minds; we shape our world. Be brave enough to act on this.
💡 When you go to war with yourself. You achieve peace. A motto used by many great warriors in any given field. What´s outstanding is that, once you know and accept your own call to war, you find profound meaning in these words. I hope this can give you the push to be brave for one more step until you get to the top of the hill.
🎙️ Episode #577 of Modern Wisdom with Chris Williamson: This might seem old for many, but this episode with the only and toughest of all, David Goggins, was packed with wonderful insights.
Goggins explained a new concept: life autopsy: see what’s making you die. You can be breathing, but not beating alive. So, make an introspection. What makes you miserable? What’s making you stop? What’s making you anxious? What’s making you sick?
