The Comforting Pain You Are Living In (Part 1)
Life involves sacrifices you must willingly accept. Sign up here!
Have you woke up in the morning feeling exhausted but even then, despite the not-so-good sleep you had last night, you stand up, dormant still, and grab your phone, try to fit yourself into a quite strange position, and scroll into the infinite algorithm perfectly suited for you on your tiny little screen?
You don´t feel like quitting this craving for immediate satisfaction, do you?
Even if your eyes are sore and you are still trying to figure out how to wake up, even if your body aches a little from the uncomfortable position in which you are…
You continue scrolling.
That´s how you deal with many “pains” in your life. You don´t pay attention to them, because there´s something down the line which pays the price of your suffering.
And maybe that´s a good thing. Maybe you value the sacrifice it takes to achieve great things in life.
Or maybe is the wrong kind of “comforting” pain. Let me explain.
You decide to let your pain mold you. Like a little kid playing with Play-Doh, creating unique figures that won´t last much longer. Only this time you are the Play-Doh, and the kid is your constant suffering.
Discomfort comes first when trying to achieve comfort, right? So for you to move from one pain to a better type of pain in your life, requires a certain amount of sacrifice, work, effort.
What happens is that the pain you are dealing with right now -if you are a student: the assignments, if you are a freelance worker: your different clients’ proposals, if you are a parent: your kids’ education; tends to be normal at some point, tedious but a familiar situation.
So for you to take the next steps in your life, for you to tackle bigger projects, and for you to stay sharp and committed to your health, requires a new type of suffering, which you haven´t yet gotten along with. You end up denying a better sacrifice, and you end up sacrificing your overall wellness.
Pay attention to those kinds of comforting “pains” that you got in your life.
Answer if they are worth your everyday sacrifice and commitment to face them. Because if not, you are giving up on better goals and situations.
Your sufferings don´t have to take on your life. Your choices of sacrifices do.
⤴️ The Weekly Update
📚 The hard reading season. Yeah, it´s been a tough season for reading, at least in my case.
I´m so happy about the trajectory the community is taking, I´m in the process of doing a little re-branding, re-arranging my content style, and overall the platforms I use to spread the stories with you fam.
Even though it has been hard, I´ve managed to tackle down some time to read. I´ll make a post next week with my best advice (you´ll find it here!), but for now, one thing I´d recommend for everyone to improve their reading lives is to mark down at least 10 minutes of their day where there´s no other activity other than reading.
It´s a small appointment, but the difference is huge, I know you´ll thank me later.
💡 All growth is a leap in the dark. You aren´t certain about the process, nor if the other side will be brilliant. But one thing you are sure of is that this jump is the most important thing in your life. You need it.
Be bold enough to make the leap, and courageous enough to embrace uncertainty, because you are the only one who knows your worth.
🎙️ Resilience is a skill that can be developed. Because know what… you don’t build resilience unless harsh times come and knock on your door. You don´t go out there into the world hoping you are prepared for hard times. You need to put in some training for you to face your hardest mountains. When problems knock on your door, don´t blame them. Tell them, are you ready?
⚔️ What I´ve worked on this week
Here is a glimpse of the work I did during the week, and also the links to my socials if you´d like to immerse more in the content I create on a daily basis.
Only valuable stuff, that´s my oath.
