The hidden costs of your life
Have you ever identified those silent opressors? Many of us pay for the costly.
Almost everything in life has a cost.
We pay for things.
We pay for our food, our entertainment, our commodities, our health, our security, our fashion, our education, and the list goes on.
What about the “free” stuff? Love? In-person communication? Our parents? Gifts? Nature? Silence? Thinking? Freedom?
Those are all free things, but in their free quality, they have a cost attached: their acceptance and how we use them. If we accept love and don´t use it wisely/correctly, we are causing damage and earning it too as a cost.
If we accept there´s freedom or that we can communicate how we want, the cost comes down to how we use the free things. Now, these free things can accumulate, and that compounds the cost too.
Too much free stuff to worry about, too much cost to pay. And don´t get me wrong, there´s nothing bad in having these things; we just need to be cautious of how many of them are necessary for us, how many of them are just accumulating space, and how many of them aren´t a gift anymore.
There´s just limited space in our life for these things.
Earning vs Getting for Free
We better not confuse one another. Getting for free implies taking responsibility or action later while earning means continuous, growing action; in other words, a never-ending proof that you have built a character that prevails even with the tests that life offers.
We don´t get a free relationship with someone, or their trust, their love, their friendship. We earn those things. Now, do they still have a cost? Absolutely. The hidden “cost” is a wonderful one, but that requires to be paid for us to keep.
We need to grow the relationship; we need to show up and put some effort into connection. "No one will ever understand the violence it took you to be this gentle.” A quote that reflects how little it requires for people to see, but how much it takes to act, to change, to accept or decline a cost in your life.
There are a lot of hidden costs in your life. There are a lot of hidden costs in mine, too. They just don´t cost you your money, but also your space, your mind, your body… your soul.
Think about all those costs that add unnecessary weight to your life. Do not let them torment you anymore. Do not let that unspoken word, that painful memory, that vague decision, that old vision blur you away; stop you from inner fulfillment.
Stop paying for costly things. Pay for what´s deeply necessary.
Pay for the right cost.
The Weekly Update
📜 I´m happy with the content I produce, and I´m aware that from time to time I ask myself the same question so many of you may ask too: where is all this going? Where is all this effort, this time, this creative process going? It´s a poor thinking, as for it all goes towards growth, and that´s what I´m aiming for. Building a community for thoughts and creative thinking to be spread. Sometimes the steps seem unreachable, and monotonous. But I´ll keep walking. I promise myself; I promise you.
💡 There are more memories than enemies. It is a valuable phrase that can shift most of our impatient, uncontrolled reactions. Just build memories.
