It´s that season again.
That season when humans are desperate enough to try and go out there to connect with other humans.
To feel a little bit. For good, or for bad. It´s that season again.
The long Valentine. Seems like it never ends… until the feeling vanishes away.
You might have your own stories for this season.
Some of them might draw a smile on your face. Some of them scare the very insides of your soul.
As we grow up, we tend to see this festivity as an occasional reminder that love exists. And sadly enough… that only one type of love exists.
When I was young, I remember vividly that, my friends, all the other groups in my school, and I were eager for this time of the year to come.
Because it resembled something I think you and I might have lost by now: the loving feeling of pure human connection.
We laughed with friends.
We share with our families this joy we had for having a special day to celebrate the existence of every special person in our lives.
We valued friendship. In fact, we treasured it.
We treasured the feeling of sharing, of creating nice memories, chasing, teasing, and playing alongside each other.
Sure, there were the lovers, who expressed their gratitude and special bond… who expressed their love.
As we grew up, we lost grip on the once joyful vision we had of this date.
And now, the long Valentine is here.
➯ We confused spending quality time with our special people with having a person who reassures us we are not alone.
➯ We confused joy and gratitude with sorrow and loneliness.
➯ We let the world dictate the rules.
➯ We lost the sense of love. We instead misunderstood the story all along.
➯ We now crave not to be alone and to find our “true lover” this season.
When it was never intended to be that way. The long Valentine can be better than this. Because today we are not alone. There are people who root for us.
For you. For me. Share with them all the magic that you once lived.
I assure you, the sorrow doesn´t last. And if you share a little bit of goodness with the world, it might just reply to you with that same goodness at the right time.
Go on now, share some love this season.
Happy Valentine.
