The “New Feeling” of Social Media: A Living Connection with “Threads”
We are re-living feelings of old times. This might be a chance to re-direct the course of the current social media status. The way you approach work and relationships too.
Okay. Some might argue a new era has begun. Others argue it´s just a matter of time before all collapses.
But the current reality can´t be ignored.
Instagram has re-connected many communities, creators, thinkers, and writers with the launch of its newest app: “Threads”.
This thrill for “Threads” is so captivating: people felt “connected”, renewed.
And this is a big thing to say. People were lacking those feelings with the modern systems other social platforms had adopted.
And why were they lacking them? Because of the need for a platform made for the sole purpose of connection itself.
Not monetization, not mere interaction, not uploading egocentric realities.
“Threads” is a simple app that knows the point of the whole social media definition: being social.
Meaning, establishing nourishing connections with other people. Giving feedback.
Making sure to communicate and hear in the same measure.
Giving opportunities for creators and their communities to engage and lift each other up.
That´s what “Threads” is representing right now.
A beacon of change.
A beacon most of its users want to preserve.
If you are part of the lucky bunch of individuals that now have access to the app, you know what I´m talking about.
Is a supercharged feeling of connection and a vibe of real social network. We feel that “human” part again.
We no longer feel trapped by an algorithm or the constant bombs of products and brands trying to puncture a reality into our lives.
We simply appreciate “real” people talking to others. Interacting, and building meaningful communities block by block.
That´s the real hype of “Threads”. The assurance of the possibility of recovering what social media lost in the first place: human communication and social empathy.
We don´t know Meta´s plan for the future. We don´t know the course the app will take in the future. But what we really want is for the platform to stay as it is.
To embrace the definition of social media at its core. To represent a new guideline for social communication and community building.
“Threads” is the hope we have for a better relationship with our online presence. It can be the call we needed to re-humanize the internet.
And if you are worried about its future, I´d say you at least enjoy what it has to offer today:
A gateway to a fruitful connection with your favorite creators, artists, brands, communities, people.
Check the platform out if you can, but I bet you would have done that if you could by now.
So I want to encourage you to spread this message of change for a real social media in our days.
I hope this little reflection motivated you to be a better version of yourself out there.
Both online and in our present physical reality.
We can enjoy true connection and growth if we let our human value talk for itself.
⤴️ The Weekly Update
📚 The shallow sense of progress. There´s this hype for productivity and high-leverage systems in today´s society. Reality check: There´s no such thing as a 24/7 hyper-focus work mode (at least not one that is completely sustainable).
Be present at all times. Focus also means enjoying the passage of time.
💡 You need to call that person. It may have passed a long time, but in the end, you need that person. You crave them. Go on, there´s nothing bad in it.
It´s necessary for you to make that call.
Go and fix your relationship with yourself.
🎙️ Why do we lack a connection with reality? Because of the different expectations we have from it. When our expectations meet our current reality, we make the shift that allows us to flow instead of despair.
